It's an easy 25-30-minute from my place and offers a lot to explore. https://www.goldenisles.com/discover/jekyll-island/ Here’s my fav spot to chill on the beach when you’re on Jekyll, hunt for shells, or watch the sunset w wine and a couple of beach chairs. You HAVE to take pics standing on or by the driftwood. 🪵 https://www.jekyllisland.com/activities/beaches/driftwood-beach/

This is my favorite beach on SSI to bike to and walk in the morning, mid-day, or at sunset. Great for taking the kids and/or four-legged friends. The access is actually of Bruce (2300 Bruce, SSI GA 31522 if you want to map it), and not at the end of Ocean Blvd like some maps place it. Check this beach out at high tide and low... as it turns into two completely different places. Both amazing. At high tide, much of the beach is covered, though you are usually able to wade over to the dunes and walk. Both are a site to behold. Tide Chart: https://www.tideschart.com/United-States/Georgia/Glynn-County/Goulds-Inlet/ On the northern tip of East Beach (end of Bruce Drive), this is both a beach destination, and a bird-watching, fishing, and ocean observation area. You can see the southern end of Sea Island, just across the river inlet, and if you're lucky you will observe many coastal birds, plus local fishermen, beach-goers, and paddleboarders off the sandbars. This beach access location offers a water hose, a community water bowl for pets, a bike-lock stand, and one or two wooden benches. There is limited parking, as it is right off the East Beach neighborhood houses/streets, but we always find a spot.

This beach is big, gorgeous, and has easy parking, great bathrooms, showers, etc. It's right by Gould's Inlet which is a bit more "off the beaten path" and my personal favorite beach for walks, but Coast Guard Beach (also called East Beach) is at the top of my beach list as well for many reasons. Check it out for sure.

This gorgeous and easy to get to beach is GREAT for all, especially those with young kids. It has easy/public (free - like everywhere on the island!)) parking, easy/close beach access, showers, bathrooms, plus a nice shaded kids playground. This is also a great place to come and walk the beach or to ride your bike to and then stop and enjoy the waves/beach a bit.

Food scene

Love sitting marshside. Great food. Only 1 mile from the house. It's one of my must-visit spots to have dinner every time I'm on the island. I like to go early to avoid the crowd and enjoy the sunset sitting on the outdoor deck.

This is definitely a local favorite -- can be hard to get into but ALWAYS a favorite when you are looking for seafood and a memorable night out to dinner. Also close to the house --- 1 mile away, and close to the King and Prince public beach access.

This is the place my entire family agrees on every time we are looking for a place to go to dinner. Great pizza, calzones, salmon, and more. Upscale Italian food in a comfortable setting. I like the outdoor patio seating but it's nice inside too. You will LOVE this place and might even go more than once. On the north end of island close to the Sea Island causeway. When you're heading there, or on the way back, watch for the Harris Teeter nearby --- a very nice grocery store if you want an alternative or a place in addition to our closer/less expensive grocery store, Winn-Dixie.

I have been coming to the island for decades and only just discovered this AMAZING local eatery myself this year. Fun, laidback, great service, you can even eat outside and bring your dog depending on the weather. We had the best lunch and return that same week on Sunday for brunch (after 11 AM check online days/hours to be sure. I had their special "brunch scramble" egg and veggies skillet and it was a home run. (You might need to ask for it --- it was not on the menu). Enjoy a beer or wine flight and all the great eats. I'm getting hungry just typing about it. :)

This place!!! Best view from nearly any restaurant on SSI and a great place to stop for coffee and donuts post sunrise OR a nice lunch mid-day OR, my favorite, a fancy lobster dinner sitting outside if you can score a beachside table. We adore ECHO for the food and the location. You cannot beat this view.

Family-friendly, big/great bar, huge menu (they have everything), and a big wrap-around deck. Not super fancy but super fun/yum. Plus you can WALK here from our place. It's right near the pier and fun to walk up and down Mallery after or before you eat. I personally love the coconut shrimp tacos. My kids love their piled high nacho plates, club sandwiches, and chicken fingers. If you want it, they will probably have it. After dinner, grab ice cream from the St Simons Sweets Candy & Ice Creamery nearby.

This is my FAVORITE salad on the island —- spinach salad with crispy chicken level 2 heat. (Only go level 3 out of 4 heat if you really like it hot. I do and love it but it’s definitely got a kick. I like spicy stuff and I’ve never made it to 4.) ;) Great IPA’s on tap and killer street tacos. It’s an adorable laid back local spot — and it’s fun to sit either outside, in their wrap around screened porch or inside if you can get one of the few tables inside this cute place. This is my favorite place to order and take home on the island. Fun, fried, and southern. You can't go wrong stopping in for lunch/dinner or grabbing a meal to go.

Super. Yum. Donuts... need I say more? Make sure you check their open hours and day before heading over. You can ride bikes from the house to this sweet local bakery, or drive. :)

This is where I get my lattes! We have a Starbucks on the island if that is your thing --- though I HIGHLY recommend you give the Palm Coast a visit instead for your morning java if you want it made for you. Just a short, 1/2 mile tops walk from our place, and by the pier. Great breakfast burritos and a killer morning egg skillet, and/or baked goods as well. Also open for lunch and you can typically grab a table outside on the front porch or back brick patio. They have excellent soups, salads, chicken salad… you’ll be happily surprised this much great food can come out of such a little cafe.

Sightseeing

By the marsh on the north end of the island, this pristine protected land is great for a short or long walk in nature and features a lookout tower as well as a help center and an area where you can walk out right onto the marsh and sit and enjoy the nature, birds, water etc. Definitely pack water, I hat, bug spray and sunscreen. You might want to bring some snacks as well and stay a while. Wear comfie walking shoes or sandals.
