Just a few minutes drive up the road is Elstree Aerodrome, where you can learn to fly, book a helicopter charter, or just watch the planes come and go from the grassy banks of the family run cafe and restuarant 'Ikaron', with its view of the whole airfield.
It's a favourite just to entertain the kids for an hour or two in the warmer months, especially with an ice cream.
