The Hampshire Bowman has a fantastic selection of cask ales and ciders and a very big garden out the back for a nice sunny evening. It's about a 15 min walk up the lane and across the fields. They serve meals and hot snacks too.

The Portsmouth Seafront is a long promenade with many interesting areas and cafes. There is Southsea Castle, where Henry the VIII watched the Mary Rose sink. As well as Southsea Common which always seems to have something happening from live music to kite fairs etc. etc. The millennium trail starts at Gunwharf Quays and you just follow the millennium trial icons in the footpath to have an interesting walk through Historic Old Portsmouth stopping at the pub at Spice Island or the cafe in the arches arts and crafts area. We highly recommend this walk and always take our NZ visitors down there.

Shopping

Sitting right on the waterfront, with the Spinnaker Tower providing panoramic views of the area, Gun wharf Quays is a very successful outlet shopping centre. It has an enormous underground car park but it can be very busy getting in there on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon so go early or use the Park'n'Ride. There is huge selection of places to eat with sea views along with a Vue Cinema and Bowlplex and Night clubs. It is also the start/end of the Millennium Trail.
