Very easily the best pizza in town...but EVERYTHING is good. Salmon dip is on point, you'll find yourself craving their orzo salad in the middle of the week, the tomato soup is fresh and delicious. The best thing though: consistency. There's never an off day here.  Also, the bar here is a cool spot to hang out after a hike, and usually you will find locals here avoiding the tourist mob of downtown.

One of my favorite breakfast & lunch places in Juneau (they also do dinners)!  Plan on spending a little time here, they cook everything fresh. Tiny little place, lots of charm, and when the weather is warmer, the little spot outside is great!  I recommend checking out their freshly baked pastries and pairing it with a hot beverage to boost your mid-day energy.

The crab legs are large, succulent, juicy, and sweet! Best King Crab legs and the crab bisque is phenomenal as well! Only con is it's very popular for tourists so the wait might be a bit but well worth it.

Half restaurant and half bar. Lets be clear - this is a dive bar, but best halibut fish & chips in town. Really local vibe and the drinks are great too.

Sit and watch the float planes takeoff and the cruise ships come and go. Sunny Day, sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view of Gastineau Channel. This place caters to tourists, and in the summer when cruise ships are in port, it tends to be very busy, but if you wait until about 8:00 pm, the cruise ship passengers get back on board and The Hangar clears out a bit. They have a bunch of beers on tap, and pretty good food. Probably the best view in town form a bar/restaurant.

Upscale Italian restaurant. Great handmade pasta and sauces, wood fired gourmet pizzas, good wine, classy atmosphere. This is an expensive place, but it's really tasty and they have won awards. (Note: Juneau is casual, even when it's classy, so don’t take the “upscale” part too seriously, just because its expensive doesn’t mean you have to dress up, but it's also totally ok if you do)

One of the fancier places in Juneau. Good for date night. The have a good menu with a range of things like seafood, steak, pasta, and they take their food seriously. Great cocktails as well. Definitely on the more expensive side, and might offer for of a “dining experience” than some of the other restaurants in town.

Distilleries

Distillery, Cocktail Bar. This place is one of my favorites, from the floral wallpaper to all the other tasteful flourishes, you immediately feel invited to want to stay for a while. As for their gin, it's definitely one of, if not the best I've ever had. Gins change day to day but in the summer, I love their mango sea donkey.  They provide tasters, while you’re at it, pick up a special limited-edition bottle!  Also, they usually do a bloody Mary bar on Sundays, yum.

Local Breweries

Great beer that changes pretty often.  These guys know their stuff and make everything from IPA’s to barrel-aged stouts to sours. Food every day and make great specialty pizza’s on Wednesday's. Even when it's packed, the line keeps moving. Great place, great beer and great people.

Unique Brewery Tour in Juneau. A Brewery tour for $25 per person, Glacial-fed water Beer and a tasting room.  Alaskan Brewing Co. started with two founders and about ten people. Since then, it has become one of the most award-winning craft breweries in the history of the Great American Beer Festival. Impressive! They now distribute their beers to 20 states.

Cool Bars

The only bar on Douglas Island - We really like this place. Mostly locals, good drinks and they have a sort of permanent food truck that has good enough bar food. Chill, friendly atmosphere, and in a lot of ways it's one of the cleaner nicer bars in town after being remodeled a couple years back (much to the chagrin of some of the old time regulars who preferred “the old Louie's”).

If you see a lot of cruise ships at the dock, I would avoid this place. Its a tourist trap, however, if you can catch it when its not packed, it's a kinda cool joint with lots of taxidermy and interesting stuff on the walls.

Looks like somewhere you wouldn't want to go, but sometimes it fits the bill, especially during legislative season when the lobbyists, lawyers and aides can be found there. It's usually one of the best places to have a drink where the noise level is such that you can actually have a decent conversation.

The most popular floatplane tour is with Wings Airways to the Taku Lodge. Most of the helicopter tours include a stop landing on the glacier.

North Douglas Island is a short drive to downtown Juneau (about 10 minutes) and there are abundant walking trails on the island. Douglas Island is a tidal island, connected to the mainland on the north end when the Gastineau Channel is at low tide and can be reached by crossing the Douglas Bridge – a two-lane road that accommodates vehicles and pedestrians, connecting downtown Juneau with Douglas Island. This will take you to one of America’s best ski resorts, Eaglecrest Ski area, as well as views of the snowy peaks of Admiralty Island.

Usually thought of as two separate and distinct areas – West Juneau (South Douglas) and North Douglas – the island has many things to do in Juneau that are popular with Jeep adventurers, including the Treadwell Mine Historic Trail at South Douglas. The trail takes you to Treadwell Glory Hole, once the entrance to a network of mineshafts under the Gastineau Channel. A spectacular waterfall drops into the Glory Hole. Douglas Harbor is reminiscent of wild adventures and insightful reflections. Wildlife sightings are not an unusual occurrence – eagles soar overhead, deer forage at the edge of the forest, and ducks crowd the shoreline. Curious young sea lions frolic in the coastal waters. From downtown Douglas, you can hike down to Sandy Beach on the Rain Forest Trail. Sandy Beach was made from mine tailings from the historic Treadwell gold mine and is the only sand beach in the Juneau area. Nearby is the Island Pub on Second Street, which is a great place to stop for lunch and experience their amazing fire-baked pizza while enjoying an incredible view across the water of downtown Juneau.
