Norway's and North-Europe's biggest skiing-resort is only 13 minutes away. From green (kids) to black (older 'kids') the 80 slopes should provide any age with alpine entertainment.

Trysil's best swimming spot is located here. The shallow sandy beach is perfect, really warm and safe for any age. It has a sand-volleyball court, beach shop with fantastic french fries and sausages, and water sports activities. Approx. 40 minutes to drive, but really worth it since you would stay there all day long.

Just an hour away is the skiing resport most of Sweden is travelling to, since it is closer to Stockholm and not a flying distance such as Åre.

Perfect for the entire family. With kid-slopes and pump-tracks. And if you dare, take the float-track "Magic Moose" from the top of the mountain. If the latter - use the right kind of protection and don't end up like the typical standard stupid bloody 40 year old Trysil emergency room pasient;)

Swimming and bowling! Everybody can buy an entrance fee to the swimming area on Hotel Radisson Trysil. There are also gaming machines and bowling there if that is your taste. Don't forget to buy the really good stone-baked pizza in the Hotel restaurant in the lunch-time afterwards. It's really italian, flat, and arugula olive tasty. Summer or winter - you're the boss.

Elverum is 50 minutes away by car. The 'Forest museum' - or 'Skogbruksmuseet' is really interesting for families with children due to the interactivity and animal displays, it's quite cheap, and it has a really big summertime outside area which makes it relaxing for families with small kids.

This is a perfect woodland golf-track with 18 holes. Medium difficulty and wide tracks make this a perfect area for those who would just like a relaxing day. For those competitive players using their handicap against their scratch-player friends it's also worth playing. It also has a driving range, and some really good pasta dishes on the court's clubhouse.

Do some hiking up here in the summer and eat a good lunch and say hello to the sheeps. If winter and skiing, participate in maybe Norway's biggest afterski concerts during easter with 4.000 jumping alpine people.

Formas de ahorrar

20 minutes drive away, is Långflons shopping center.

It pays off to do all grocery shopping here on the border to Sweden. Food, meat, candy and soft drinks is much cheaper than in Norway. It's also cheap tobacco, and after 2-3 days waiting you could pre-order wine to half-the-price from 'Systembolaget' - the norwegian alike to Norway's 'Vinmonopolet'. Remember to create a 'Systembolaget' account on their homesite first.

Wool is a necessity in Wintertime.

Late december, january and early february are cold. Bring wool! Mosquito repellent can be a necessity during summer especially close to silent waters.
