Walk/Hike there

Voted 8 th in the country by Yelp of all restaurants in the United States Gaucho Parilla (Strip District) is highly recommended. If you choose to dine in, then expect to wait in a line that is wrapped around the block. (They have announced a move 10 blocks West towards downtown, so double check.) Get it to go!!! Look up the menu online and call them in the morning before they open for the evening. Then call them and place your order for a specific time. When you go to pick it up, walk right past the line, through the doors and straight up to the register. It will likely be ready for you. Pick it up, walk out the door, and eat it on the back deck here overlooking downtown. Fold out tables, and patio chairs are up there already.

Penn Brew has been serving up craft beers and German food since long before craft beer was cool... As you walk out the front door, go up the hill to your right and go into the parking lot on your left. From there, just keep following the winding steps down and eventually you will find yourself in their beer garden. If that’s where you sit, then send someone from your party to the host stand to let them know you sat yourself.

Feeling adventurous? This trek up and down Pittsburgh’s infamous “city steps” will lead you to our local craft cidery. Their menu is small and trendy, but everything is good! If you exit out the back of the property and go all of the way up the “city steps” behind the house you will come to Goettman street. Cross the street heading north, keeping the park on your right. In about 100 feet, right in front of you are the steps going down the other side of Troy Hill. These stairs are a bit treacherous and not for the faint of heart. When you get to the bottom of the stairs cross the street, turn RIGHT onto Voskamp , there is a back entrance on your left.

Luke Wholey's is located in the vibrant Strip District. The food is good and unlike many strip district restaurants there is not typically a wait to get a table.

Southern Tier microbrewery is a little further of a walk (30+mins), but if you take in the downtown views along the riverfront trail along the way it is well worth it. Seriously, the walk is gorgeous. If you are going to a Heinz Field, PNC Park, or Stage AE, then you are only a couple blocks from Southern Tier.

Turn left through the tunnel under the train tracks and walk straight past the Heinz Lofts until you get to the Allegheny River.
