One of the most beautiful (and busy) areas of RMNP. A base camp for many incredible trails for all hiking levels. Don't miss a visit to this spot in RMNP. From a super easy stroll around Bear Lake to many longer/more difficult hikes, this trail head will lead you to whatever hiking, fishing or wilderness adventure your group is looking for.

If you can only do one hike... do this one. It's a great hike in the Summer months and a beautiful snow shoe trail in the winter months. The view from Emerald Lake to Hallet Peak is one of the most iconic and famous shots in the park. Get to the Bear Lake Trail Head EARLY! In the Winter you should be there by 8am. In the Summer 7am. If not, you will not find parking and will need to take a shuttle from lower lot. If you are in RNMP in the Winter time? This is OUR favorite snow shoe trek to do when there is snow. You can rent snowshoes from a rental shop for under $10.

Summer/Fall Only - Make sure you take a drive to the top of the world! Trail Ridge Road takes you from the East side of RMNP to the West Side. The road to the top is paved and has the most incredible views. Often times there is snow at the Summit, even in the middle of the Summer. There is a visitors center at the Summit. For an added adventure, you can drive on the old Fall River Rd (One way dirt road ) to the Summit and take Trail Ridge Road (Paged - 2 lane) . We often see Moose and Elk on this road. One time we saw a Mama Moose and her baby cow.

Our favorite is Sky Pond....which gives you an opportunity to climb/scramble up a waterfall to the lake in the sky! Views of Sharks Tooth ridge are amazing. Other destinations from Glacier Gorge - Mills Lake, Loch Vale, Black Lake Alberta Falls (only 1 mile from TH).
