The Garden District is breathtakingly beautiful! We specifically enjoy the Lower Garden District. The Saint Charles Ave. Streetcar runs through it entirely. Magazine Street has 7 miles of shops and restaurants to enjoy. Celebrities including Sandra Bullock, John Goodman as well as Beyonce and JayZ own homes in this neighborhood.
We recommend taking a stroll down Third St, from St. Charles to Magazine, and then back up Washington to the above ground cemetery. On a sunny day, there is literally no wrong turn, as there is some eye candy around every corner.

Freret Street is so close and offers so much. There are multiple restaurants, our favorites include Hi Hat for local flare, Bear Cat for brunch, and Sarita's for authentic Mexican, and MoJo's for coffee. Great spot to walk to on a nice sunny day.

This is described as the "Local's Bourbon Street" There's many different venues with live music including Jazz, Reggae, and blues. There's street performers, an entire art market, street poets with fun old school typewriters. It boasts the most fun on the weekends, but is entertaining for any night of the week. Our Favorite places are: Cafe Negril, Spotted Cat, and D.B.A.

This is a big favorite for us. There's live music in the back, with its own bar and dance floor. Then there's booths, pool tables, TVs, and music playing up front at the main bar. Great local spot right along magazine street. Always good locals here having a drink.

Sightseeing
Crescent Park is a one mile trail along the Mississippi River West of the French Quarter. This is one of my favorite parks, boasting a beautiful view of downtown and the French Quarter, a botanical garden, outdoor sculptures, an open grass area, all while getting a nice breeze from the Mississippi river, and being able to watch as the cruise ships and barges float by. My dog loves this trail, its truly a beautiful site to see.

This is another beautiful park along the river. I will lump this in with the Tree of life, because if you're driving you should hit both of these spots.
They Fly is the best for bringing a nice picnic, or some awesome crawfish to enjoy along the Mississippi while watching the ships pass by.
The tree of life is not much farther, and has one of the most magical vibes in the city. It's under this 300 year old oak tree where Bob Dylan wrote a bunch of his songs.

By and far our favorite restaurant in the city! Two shotgun houses converted into one amazing restaurant featuring the best local cuisine I've ever tasted! You walk right through the kitchen to get to the back half of the restaurant. There are frame to frame pieces of art as well as intricate murals covering the walls. There's no reservations unless its a party of 6 or more, and there's always a wait because it truly is the best! Put your name on the list, walk next door for a drink and some live music, or hang out in the back patio for some relaxing pre-dinner conversation with some locals. Honestly a DO NOT miss if you can make it!
