A Few Things

Olympic Venues: Ski Jumps, Mount Van Hovenburg Bobsled Track, Herb Brooks Arena
Lake Placid has the Olympic Venue attractions, that are a must see, The 1980 Herb Brooks Arena, where the Miracle on Ice occurred, now hosts Can-Am hockey tournaments, and the ECAC hockey playoffs. Shopping is at its finest with a variety of small boutiques and shops. Restaurants, and cafes adorn the streets, as well as the LP Pub and Brewery, Big Slide Brewery, Adirondack Steak and Seafood and Lisa G's, and Generations are some of my favorites. Lake Placid always has that magical holiday atmosphere.

Full of history, Saranac Lake was once a world famous health resort and center for scientific research, and today is a popular heritage tourism destination. The cure for TB was discovered in Saranac Lake by Dr. Edward Livingston Trudeau. Saranac Lake is home to our Winter Carnival and Ice Palace, a weeklong celebration (starts and ends with fireworks over the IP)in the middle of winter, full of family fun, everything from a frying pan toss to the woodsman competition, chili cookoff , torchlight skiing and GalaParade. SL has a thriving Arts scene, as well as the Walk of Fame, and the River Walk. The 6ers, 6 Mountains to hike, become a member! Baker, Mountain St. Regis Mountain, Scarface, Mountain Ampersand, Mountain, Haystack Mountain, McKenzie Mountain! Lots to see and do in SL! Little Italy Restaurant, The Red Fox, Grizle T's Bar-The Scullery, Lake View Deli, Bitters and Bones, Bar and Grill, are my favs!
