The centre has an excellent variety of birds in aviaries but the highlight of the visit was the flying displays which where done by expert and very knowledgeable enthusiastic staff and the boss himself. Coffee is available on site and there is an excellent café in the garden centre right next door for lunch. Kids and adults young and old will love the birds which get much closer than you may expect, all in all a great day out and I cannot wait to return.

Since 1980 HRH The Prince of Wales has worked ceaselessly to create one of the most imaginative and inspired gardens of our time. Adhering strictly to the organic principles that His Royal Highness so passionately believes in, the gardens at Highgrove demonstrate his belief in sustainable methods, encouraging both plants and wildlife to thrive. The Gardens are a series of interlinked spaces, each with their own character and purpose. Weaving magically around the House they respond to the seasons by ever changing colour and texture. Nearest train station is Kemble. Highgrove is situated 1.5 miles south west of Tetbury off the A433 in the hamlet of Doughton.

After winding through the mighty oaks that line the long drive of this Gloucestershire garden on the edge of the Cotswolds, you see a weathered-copper onion dome straight out of India. The south front, complete with curving orangery, unfurls above a Repton landscape that has remained unchanged since the mid-19th century. The garden is blessed by a series of spring-fed pools, connected by gurgling water which eventually tumbles into the Island Pool in the valley bottom, before joining the River Evenlode below.
