Geneva center - les Eaux-Vives neighbourhood. Places to see, Activities, Dining and Going Out options, Sports, Tips
My apartment in Geneva is located in Eaux-VIves neighborhood, which is right by the Geneva fountain, the Jet d'Eau, and the lake promenade with the newly built and expanded public beach. This neighborhood has lots to offer to visitors in addition to the scenic walks by the lake : - beautiful, manicured parks with views over the lake, frequent public concerts and rare, beautiful trees and plants that usually one could see only in botanical gardens (Park La Grange, Park Les Eaux-VIves) - nice architecture of the 19th- early 20th century buildings that survived only in a few areas of Geneva (unfortunately). Some buildings on the lake promenade are very impressive (Maison Royale) - sports activities (the best tennis club of Switzerland in the park Les Eaux-Vives, jogging and biking paths, numerous gyms) - multiple trendy, contemporary dining places : ALMA, Indigo, Casba, Chez Fouad, Chez Gregoire. Da Paolo to name just a few. Please note that for the above places booking is essential on Thu-Sat; - popular trendy bars to mingle like the Bottle Brothers, a cool rooftop bar of Metropole Hotel, Au Coin du Bar with a Parisian chic interior design and a big collection of wines) - all possible grocery shops are within 5 min walk from my apartment (Migros, Coop, Denner) as well as Bio groceries and open-late groceries (rare to find in Switzerland as shops close strictly at 19.00 and are closed on Sundays) - many boutique retail shops, pharmacies - walking distance to the historical center of Geneva, the Old Town to visit and discover - quick and convenient public transport links to other areas of Geneva, to the railway station (20 min) and to the airport (30 min)
