Restaurants and Wine Tastings - a few pointers.

Restaurants : Friday and Saturday nights - best to book. Sundinner - best to check if open. Expensive $$$ Tonic – in nearby town of Milthorpe A real treat if you are celebrating something. Only do Dinners Friday and Sat and lunch Sat and Sunday. Lunch and Dinners . Sunday Lunch treat - just out of town in vineyard - Cargo Rd Breakfast They do coffees in the mornings with croissants and muffins outside. Lovely when the weather is good. Charred - Nearby. Wonderful modern Australian with knowlegable sommelier to help you select wine/s. Not too Expensive $$ Canobolis Hotel – Main Street - Casual with internal courtyard. Has Thai options as well as traditional steak and fish. Always buzzing. Parkview Hotel – Main Street Smart Casual - always enjoy dinner there with friends. Australian The Union Bank – The Schoolhouse restaurant. Modern Australian. Lovely courtyard. Sweet Sour Salt - Asian - moved into old house - really GooD Raku Izakaya – Main Street Japanese. New in Town. Mr Lim – Main Street Korean, Chinese. Great atmoshere and food. Agrestic Grocer – On the road to Molong – just north of Orange. Just on outskirt of town. Live entertainment on weekends. Inside and Outside. Beer tasting Simply Nile Café - East Orange - Just around the corner. Great breakfast. Can sit inside , under cover or outside Bills Beans - Just up Summer street from the house. Best coffee stop and a sun trap in the morning. An institution in Orange. Brekkie is great too. Byng Street Cafe - Corner Byng and Clinton. Breakfast and Lunch. Across town in Byng street. 3 minute drive. Recommended to visit Racines Bakery - Bakery in town - a must - near Harris Farm . (Near exit from Harris Farm - really good specialty Meat/Sausage outlet.) Robin Hood - Bistro. Local Institution. Great with kids. Take the kids or sit in the adult area. Good food at reasonable price. Civic Centre & Art Gallery - worth a visit and art gallery. Cafe for coffee. Wineries. I would recommend – Rowlee Winery. It's near Racines and a drive along Pinnacle road- Cargo Road loop is well worth it. Stop at Borrodell winery to walk around , tasting and a restaurant - check if restaurant open and book – otherwise merely visit. Phillip Shaw – they have spent big on their new tasting area. Bloodwood Wines - Very good wines - along road towards Molong - but they no longer do drive by's. If interested you can call and ask. Cargo Road Wines - Nice stop. Wines are typical and some outrageous. I support them and they call with offers etc. Heffer Station – Excellent wines. Great stop with kids as well. Animal farm etc. If driving around – Canowindra is historic and the chocolate shop at the end of town is a must !
