The Cotswold Way passes through the centre of Winchcombe. In addition to that and other major walking trails, there are many less travelled paths to investigate without the need to take the car to find them.
There is an OS map centred on the cottage for your use during your stay. Winchcombe is also a popular area for cyclists. The HONC event takes place every year. (For the uninitiated, that's the "Hell of the North Cotswolds" ride - and it is probably an apt description, though I haven't done it myself!)
Below are some ideas of places to visit and what's on in/around Winchcombe.
The castle is of historical significance. It is the final resting place the only Queen of England to be buried outside a royal palace.
In December, it hosts the Spectacle of Light, when the gardens are illuminated and a walking trail is created. Over the years it has provided an enchanting illuminated walk through the grounds. Tickets are available from the Sudeley Castle website.
