It's a tourist place...but so fun to enjoy. They have a microbrewery on site for unique flights. And the prime rib is my favorite dish. If you're up to it, there's a 72 ounce steak competition. Y'all, that's a roast not a steak!

The rooftop patio is an excellent place to enjoy the sunset and some tasty bites. I love the calamari - ask for the balsamic glaze on the size. Signature drinks, excellent wait staff and a tomahawk ribeye to die for.

This is the oldest continuously operating restaurant in Amarillo. Try to sit at the bar so you can see the cooks. You might see him throw an entire brick of bacon into the french fry bin. MMMMMM!

Award winning BBQ from a simply wonderful man and his wife. (She is a firey red head, so he named the spicy version of the BBQ sauce after her.) You are a lucky person if you get here for the mac and cheese or before they sell out.

Cajun yumminess. I've only had the Romaine Wedge salad with balsamic drizzle and a side of jalapeno charred scallops. Cuz it's that good.

“In 1819, while on their horseback trek over the Great Plains of New Spain, Percy Bysshe Shelley and his wife Mary Shelley (author of Frankenstein), came across these ruins. Here Shelley penned his immortal lines, among them: I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert… And on the pedestal these words appear: ‘My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings, Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!’ The pedestal near the monument also asserts that the visage of the king was destroyed by Lubbock football players after losing a game to Amarillo, which while plausible, is of course false. You can read more about it here. It's a fun place: https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/ozymandias-plains

Bring your spray paint can and perhaps an extra pair of shoes in case it's muddy. There's a gift shop on Route 66 where you can buy jewelry made out of paint the artist chips off the cars. He calls the "stones" Cadlite after the Cadillacs buried in the ground. Check out the Bob Lile Gallery on 6th street.
