Arts & Culture

Cadouin has been the site of pilgrimages dating back almost 1000 years. Its famous Abbey is a UNESCO world heritage site and the audio-guided tour of the Abbey Cloisters is quite spectacular. Over and above the architecture and historical interest of Cadouin there are lovely shops, restaurants, galleries, cafés, a tabac and bakery. Market days are on Wednesdays.

Parks & Nature

The idyllic setting of Les Belles Granges in the little hamlet of Le Tourier is quite special. Overlooking rolling green pastures and woodland, unspoilt views and offering complete peace and tranquility, the surrounding nature takes your breath away. At the end of the hamlet, local ferme equestré La Margotière offers riding by the hour, plus outrides and holiday riding spread over several days. What better way to meander around the Dordogne countryside than elevated on the back of a horse!

Sightseeing

The surrounding villages to Les Belle Granges are among those rated as the most beautiful in France and Belvès is no exception. Historic caves and troglodyte dwellings are points of interest as well as 11th to 15th century streets and buildings and spectacular views over the river Nauze. This "village of the seven bells" has lots to offer exploration, history and entertainment-wise including ramparts, draw-bridges, moats and towers. From Saturday local farmers' market to Wednesday night food market (end June to first week September) are all part of its unique charm. There is also a medieval festival in mid-August.
