Sightseeing

home of the Prince Regent, this is Brighton’s top attraction. The entrance to it is on North Street but the best view of it is from the front on The Old Steine Road. The Pavilion has some lovely gardens you can sit in and a cafe in summer months. I definitely recommend doing the audio guided tour of inside.

Off from North Street is the North Lanes. You will find many quirky and boutique shops here. On the other side of North Street you enter the winding South Lanes and the oldest part of Brighton which is mostly jewelers and restaurants.

turn left out of the flat and left again, then keep going until you hit the sea! You’ll find this beach is less busy than the main Brighton beach too. If you turn right there is a nice walk along the promenade with the brightly coloured beach huts and a nice cafe called Lexi’s cafe if you carry on you will reach the Rockwater restaurant, with outside seating for coffee or cocktails. If you turn left you are heading towards the West Pier and past Marrocco’s which is famous for its ice cream. If you fancy fish and chips while on the beach the nearest Chip shop is called Chippy Chips along the Kingsway (If you are on the seafront walk up Sussex Road and turn left)

the view from the top on a clear day is fantastic (so I hear- I can’t stand heights!). It’s best to get your tickets in advance as you’ll have to wait at least an hour for a time slot during the summer season. www.britishairwaysi360.com

A true seaside experience with rides, arcade machines, fish and chips and free deck chairs. Watch out for the seagulls who are notorious for stealing donuts out of your hands!

I have a book on walks/hikes in the South Downs I will leave out for you.

The West Pier is a ruined pier in Brighton.. It was designed by Eugenius Birch and opened in 1866. It was the first pier to be Grade I listed in England and Wales but has become increasingly derelict and now only its metal frame remains since its closure to the public in 1975
