Sightseeing

There is plenty to see and do, with a "train" to take you round if you are tired of walking. There are a number of restaurants / cafes, but you can take your own food if you prefer to have a picnic. It's cheaper to book online rather than paying at the gate and if you come to London by train you can go online to get a 2-for-1 offer, which makes it much more affordable (https://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/hampton-court-palace).

Hampton Court Palace is well worth a visit and can easily keep you enthralled for a whole day. There are good food outlets and some gardens that you can visit without paying, but the entry fee is worth every penny. It takes just over an hour to get there by conventional public transport (Google maps is far bettter at route planning than the TfL website), or you can take the Overground from South Acton to Richmond and jump on a number 65 bus (or take a 10 minute walk) to go down to the riverside for a boat trip to get there.

Food and drink

The Sipsmith distillery runs great tours, including a tutored tasting of their wide variety of gins and mixers. If the dates work out for you, you can also have a fabulous dining experience with gin tasting included or attend a cocktail making workshop. Their events are really popular, so you need to book in advance - the website address is given below. I was delighted to find that my favourite gin is made on my doorstep! Just walk to the end of my road (5 minutes), take the E3 bus to Chardin Road (6 stops) and then walk to the distillery (5 minutes). Please support this local, high quality enterprise. https://sipsmith.com/tours/
