Vallarta

Welcome to Puerto Vallarta! I hope that your stay is wonderful and that you create lasting memories in this beautiful paradise. A few things: Wifi network: ARRIS-6922 Password: 092BE22A23F91134 Please be mindful when using the A/C and always turn it off when leaving the condo. Use discretion when choosing to turn it on, as that often in the cooler, “winter” months, the fans do a nice job at keeping things comfortable. Please also turn off all lights, fans, TV, etc. when leaving the place. Fresh drinking water is provided in the dispenser in the kitchen. In the event that the “garrafon” goes empty, simply take it across the street to the little tienda and exchange it for a new one. The electric pump needs a charge every once-in-a-while, After showering, please use the squeegee to clean the glass door. This will help keep the door looking nice for future guests. The TV has built in Netflix! Feel free to use my account to catch up on your favorite shows. The laundry room is yours to use, however if you are in vacation mode and not wanting to devote your time to the process, I can highly recommend the “lavanderia” right across the street. Nice people, great service, and your clothes will come back oh, so fresh and folded nicely! If you are staying longer than one week, I would really appreciate it if you could water the plants. For the hanging plants inside, simply take them right outside of the condo door and you will find on the far wall a water faucet. You can water the plants outside and let the excess water drain and then hang them. Don’t worry about leaving them there if you are going out for the day, no one will take them! This is a once a week water. For window boxes, please water them from the inside or outside, whatever makes you more comfortable, and even fill the water bottles if you wish—this is a twice a week water. For the moss wrapped plants inside, just submerge them in water until it stops bubbling, and then let them sit in the sink for a bit—this is a once a week water. Emergency? Call 911. Sick? Many pharmacies have a doctor on site with a “consultorio”. I prefer Farmacias Medisim on the corner of Peru and Uruguay, just a 8min walk from the condo. Doctora Jazmin is usually there, and she is great. Another option is CMQ Hospital on Basilio Badillo in Old Town. I prefer to use Uber for car service, but the local yellow taxis are perfectly fine. I also use the public bus, which costs $10 pesos/ride. Puerto Vallarta has so much to offer in so many ways. Nature activities, food, art, shopping, culture, wellness experiences, and stunning sunsets are just a few of the things you can get into in this sweet pueblo on the bay. While I can offer you countless recommendations, I thought I would list a few of my very favorite things for you here… Activities: Day Trips to surrounding towns like Yelapa, Sayulita, San Pancho, San Sebastien del Oeste, Quimixto are always an adventurous way to take in more of the Bay of Banderas area. If you are in the mood for a day trip, research these spots and then reach out to me and I can let you know how to get there. Hike from Boca de Tomatlan to Las Animas: This is by far my favorite activity in the area. This beautiful nature hike takes you along the coast south of Vallarta between two little villages. Along the way, you can enjoy phenomenal views, private/secluded beaches, jungle vibes and delicious food. The trail is moderate in difficulty. I am happy to let you know how to make this trip happen. Urban hike in Centro to El Mirador de la Cruz: This is a quick, easy hike located super close to the condo. It is great to get the heart pumping in the morning and after the hill and many, many steps, you are rewarded with an amazing panoramic view of downtown. For YOGA, I recommend public classes at my studio Flying Heart Yoga. Los Veranos is my favorite spot for Ziplining. Ritmos de La Noche, or Rhythms of the Night, is a Vallarta Adventures Tour that is absolutely spectacular. Sunset boat ride to a private beach, great dinner, and super high quality show make for a night to remember. My favorite day boat tour is through AllyCat Tours! Vallarta Botanical Garden is a plant-lover’s dream. Go out for the day, have lunch, disconnect to reconnect, and take in mother nature. There are wonderful options for LIVE ENTERTAINMENT in town at theaters such as ACT II STAGES, The Palm Cabaret, and Incanto. Everything from live music, singers, comedy, to drag queens! For great massages, check out Healing Hands on Colombia Street just a few blocks from condo. They do relaxing/deep tissue. Restaurants: Vallarta is a foodie’s paradise. If I mentioned all the places I love to eat, this guide would be a hundred pages long, so here are a few shoutouts to some of my top faves… Pulpito 116-amazing dishes from tapas, to seafood to pizza to salads to yummy dessert and fabulous cocktails. Quaint place, good vibes, and amazing staff. Coco’s Kitchen- wonderful spot for a good ol’ brunch. Mimosas, please! Barracuda-my favorite on beach place to eat. Great seafood dishes, especially their coconut shrimp and seafood molcajetes! Joe Jack’s Fish Shack-this local and tourist favorite is fun place to be. Great fish tacos and delicious (and strong) mojitos, among other things. Bravo’s-if you are looking for a nice evening out for dinner, Bravo’s is the place. The service is wonderful, the food is rich in flavor, and the quality is consistent. I recommend the Caesar Salad, Crab Cakes, Gnocchi, and Carrot Cake! Lamara-this small restaurant has some of the most creative ceviches and aguachiles I have ever seen or tasted. The dishes are like pieces of art! They also have tons of vegan/vegetarian options. Salud Superfoods-If you want a healthy and delicious lunch, Salud has your back. Smoothies, salads, bowls, sandwiches, breakfast dishes. Hacienda San Angel or The Iguana at Casa Kimberly- these two restaurants are located in two boutique hotels located basically side by side in centro. These restaurants are fine dining style and my go to if I want to have a VERY nice night out. Takos Panchos- Old town favorite. There will most likely be a long line, but the food is cheap and delicious. Famous for their Al Pastor tacos, this place is always buzzing with taco enthusiasts. I recommend the mushroom quesadilla. Siam- Delicious Thai food…and they normally give you a free scoop of coconut ice cream to top off your meal. Bravo’s- Owned by the same owner as Siam, this restaurant has rich, classic dishes that are certain to leave you satisfied. My go to is the Caesar Salad with Salmon, the Crabcakes, and the Gnocchi. Don’t leave without trying a slice of their carrot or red velvet cake…or BOTH! Shopping: Centro and Old Town are full of fun shops around every corner. A popular street for shopping is Basilio Badillo in Old town. La Isla Shopping Center has great shops like H and M, Pull and Bear, Bershka, Birkenstock, and more. There is also the Cinepolis VIP theater which is my favorite spot to catch a movie in town. Reclining seats, full menu, VIP experience. Beaches Here are my favorite beaches in the area— Los Muertos. The best beach in town. Check out Swell, Sapphire, or Ritmos for beach club. Camarones, super close to condo. It is nice, but can be a little rocky at times, but spending time at Mango’s beach club is fun. Also, Bar Solar/Barracuda are fun places on this beach. Conchas Chinas, a stunning beach very slightly south of town. Easy Uber or long walk there. Usually very few people. If you arrive early, retaining walls for houses on the beach offer good shade for a while, but it is recommended you have an umbrella for shade or rent one if the guy is there. Punta Negra (south)-I love this beach. Open, very few people, pretty water, fun waves. Own shade is needed, or there is a little ma and pop restaurant on the north end and they have some drinks, food, tables and umbrellas. If you take a water taxi from Boca de Tomatlan, you can reach Maraikas beach club, which is a TREAT! You can also reach Las Animas and Quimixtos. All three places are superb options for a beach day adventure. Bucerias is a town north, and you can bus or Uber there. They have a place called Sukha Beach Club which is nice, as well as a multitude of other beach clubs. GAY SCENE Puerto Vallarta is the most gay friendly place in Mexico…well, maybe the world! Los Muertos Beach is the gay beach, and I prefer Ritmos (aka Green Chairs) for a beach day, but Sapphire and Mantamar are other favorites that also boast oceanside swimming pools. There is always a drag show at a local theater in high season *mentioned above*, and tons of nightlife. The main gay area starts on the corner of Lazaro Cardenas and Vallarta in Old Town. My favorite spots are La Noche, Mr. Flamingo’s, and Margarita Bar, but there are other big clubs such as Industry, Code, CC Slaughter’s etc. So much to check out. I hope all this information was helpful! If you feel anything is missing, please let me know. I love Vallarta and am happy to help in all ways!
