This cute little coffee shop is so close and on your way to the J subway train. They serve strong coffee and espresso drinks, but also have a small menu (the grilled cheese, avocado toast, and breakfast omelette sandwich are our favorites). If you stay to eat, you can also enjoy a refreshing mimosa!

This is our go-to neighborhood spot for a great meal or just to have a cocktail with friends. The menu has a wide variety of tasty options for both dinner and brunch (weekends only). FKB is very casual and has a back yard area with ample seating. Make sure you try the cheddar scallion biscuits and sliders!

Salud is a convenient five minute walk from the apartment and has an array of Argentinian menu options. The burgers are excellent and for beer lovers, there are a number of craft beers and microbrews available. Another plus is the large outdoor front patio to enjoy warm Bushwick evenings or weekend brunch.

Toad Style is a little hole-in-the-wall vegan restaurant that makes all of their food from scratch. It is located “across the tracks” (aka Broadway), making it a part of Brooklyn’s beautiful Bed-Stuy neighborhood. Our favorite menu items are the Banh Mi sandwich, Tofu Scramble, and the Fried Cauliflower.

Nowadays is a must-do, especially if the weather is nice. It started as a large seasonal outdoor bar and has since added an indoor section for year-round enjoyment. There are picnic tables, ping-pong and a food truck onsite. It’s usually free except for indoors on Fri/Sat nights and on Sundays when they host a party called Mister Sunday. In addition to good music and vibes, they host special events like movie screenings and World Cup matches, so check out their website so you don’t miss out on anything.

Santa Panza is a fabulous neighborhood pizza joint with a lot of character and warmth. Wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas are their specialty, but the appetizers, the pastas, and the carafes of wine ensure there’s something for everyone. If you’re lucky, you may get a table out back and dine al fresco. Do note that it’s cash only.

Roberta’s literally put Bushwick on the map: before Roberta’s very few people were venturing out to this corner of Brooklyn. Opened in 2008, Roberta’s still has the best pizza around. They don’t take reservations and you should be prepared to wait. Our favorite item on the menu is the Bee Sting Pizza, featuring spicy soppressata with a drizzle of honey.

Faro is a one Michelin star rated Italian-leaning restaurant in the heart of Bushwick. Opened in May 2015, Faro offers a sophisticated seasonal menu that focuses on handmade pastas & farm-fresh ingredients. While some may think the portions are small, we’d say it allows you to try so much more!

Forrest Point does brunch better than anyone else in Bushwick. Tasty entrees, boozy drinks and a great atmosphere (with gorgeous outdoor area), all lead us to that conclusion. For food, we recommend the chilaquiles and for drink, try a Fire in the Laundromat, one of their signature tequila cocktails.
