Drinks & Nightlife

Bar du Siècle is the coolest bar in town with a nice mix of local intellectuals, artists and "normal" people. The interior with its spanish details echo's the roots of the feisty elderly lady who runs the place. Not a soul in town that doesn't respect her!

Sightseeing

Sauve is a beautiful village plastered against the rocks, looking down on a lush, meandering river below. Home to many, even internationally known, artists and writers. Some good food to find there too: "l'Ancient Gare" is a big, family friendly, good restaurant in an old train station building with a sizable terrace attached. The other good one in Sauve is La Tour de Mole, right in the center of the village they are the proud owners of a Michelin "BIB", for a meal you should count 40-50€.

Essentials

We're fortunate to have a fabulous organic shop at walking distance. Liddle is 20 meters further and there is the local wine co-op in between. Practical!

Arts & Culture

We are so lucky to have this beautiful theater in the middle of our town (5 minutes walk). It gets frequent plays / companies from Montpellier and/or Nimes and has therefore a high quality programming.

Food Scene

Strangely located on the side of the ring road, in the direction of SuperU, in a building that on the outside looks more like a accountants office. But. They do serve good food (lunch only), for a friendly price, and their terrace is perfectly nice. Also give the Boutique Paysanne next doors a try, they sell only local produce, the good stuff. Both the shop and restaurant are supported by our local government in order to boost visibility of our local, and mostly organic, produce.

Sweet winebar come restaurant with a lovely terrace on the back of the building. The food is elegant. Worth the 15 minute drive!

This is a restaurant where you safely can take your parents, meaning: not groovy but the food is really good (it's a fish restaurant), the terrace and tables are spacious, with linnen table cloths and professional service. We drove past for years thinking it looked too boring, but over time it became our celebration place.

We like our tiny local lunch restaurant (in the summer also open for dinner), 50m from our home, with a comfortable terrace in the shade. When you're lucky the food is really good, when you're unlucky the food is still okay considering the price!

Since july 2018 Ganges has it's own Hamburger restaurant. The copius dishes are €12, drink included, and are locally sourced, mostly organic, and all is home made: the french fries and the mayonaise too. They have eight different hamburgers. My favorites are the lamb and the wild boar hamburgers. I'm least impressed with their veggy burger. The resto is modern, almost urban and has a large outside terrace. It is conveniently (if a bit weird) located on the main round-about, approx 5 minutes walk from home. We love it.
