Banana Leaf rice is good for the soul. What I like about it besides the good food it offers is the location itself. It is different from the usual indian restaurants – what you get is a nice, homely looking, relatively big double storey house with loads of greens all around. Address: No. 1, Jalan 12/5, PJS 12 46200 Petaling Jaya.

Located in a quiet neighbourhood in Petaling Jaya, Little Heritage House in Section 17/56 is more than just a restaurant serving authentic Nyonya cuisines, but also a place rich with Nyonya heritage as its name implies, almost like museum. Stepping into the restaurant, we are immediately transported to the bygone era of Baba & Nyonya, thanks to the countless piece of antiques and Straits Chinese design that are illustrated at almost every corner of the restaurant. Address: Little Heritage House No. 23, Ground & First Floor, Jalan 17/56, 46400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Business Hours: (Daily) 12:00pm – 3:00pm/ 6:00pm – 10:00pm

Just 8 mins away by car from Latitud3 Bringing Island flavors to your plate. Make your way to The Lankan at Seventeen and dive into the world of Sri Lankan. As its name suggest, it serves Ceylonese/ Sri Lankan cuisine. If you’re familiar with the area, you’d know that there is an array of cuisines readily available here for your choosing. Now, one can add Ceylonese into the mix. The restaurant certainly was aesthetically pleasing. It was simple, yet colorful. The color tone, reminded me on the sea, ocean … which I suppose is what they were going for. Peaceful and calm it was. Customer service was good. They were more than willing to explain a dish when I was unsure what it was while also suggesting items based on my needs and preference. First dish I went for was the Brown Sugar Paal Appam. As I am a fan of appam, naturally whenever I come across it, if possible, I’d give it a try. I got so used to the size of the appam shrinking over the years, smaller and smaller in size that I was pleasantly suprised to see a large one served here 😅 It was delicious. Crispy edges with soft, gooey and dense centre with just the right amount of sweetness from the brown sugar. The Chicken Kodayyal Rice Packet was yummy, me like. Flavorful rice with a generous portion of chicken, onion, chilli and etc. I enjoyed this dish but if I could change one thing, it would be the absent banana leaf. A ‘rice packet‘ would entail a dish being wrapped in banana leaf? Pretty much all the Ceylonese rice packets I’ve ordered elsewhere came wrapped in banana leaf and in some ways, it helps retain the moisture, denseness of the dish until unwrapped. It also gives out an aura of autheticity which was missing here 😔 but good thing was that the dish was still yummy nevertheless. As for the Kothu, I initially wanted Kothu Idiyappam but that unfortunately was not available for the day, so I went with Chicken Kothu Roti instead. Just like the other dishes, this too was yummy with equal part chicken and roti. Address: 10, Jalan 17/54, Petaling Jaya

Kwai Chai Hong 鬼仔巷 is the latest tourist attraction in the Chinatown of Kuala Lumpur. It is a small alley behind Petaling Street with numerous murals depicting the daily life at this place in the old days. This lane has been there for almost a century old. It was in a dilapidated state for many years and has been lovingly refurbished recently. The pre-war building at Kwai Chai Hong is the best-kept secret of the Chinatown area in Kuala Lumpur. You can easily miss it because it is a hidden alley. It is the back lane of Jalan Panggung.
