For a central city restaurant, this is a good place in the summer to sit in the shade of old trees and enjoy a cup of good coffee or a drink. It has pizzas but also a decent urban style menu; good value for the price.

Beautiful atmosphere- situated in a courtyard between the buildings. It can be had to spot from the street - look for signs/posts at the address below - you will have to pass through a building and into a courtyard where you will see one restrain to the right, continue past it to the stairs leading one half/level up and you will be in "Dvoriste". Dvoriste has a lovely garden with great atmosphere for lazy summer evenings. The food is good with inventive and tasty entrees. Of main courses I love their file mignon (it is not a fast cooking recipe so prepare yourself for a little wait if you order this dish).
They have the best 'krempita' in town (millefeuille pastry with cream) usually topped with sour cherries compote. White house wine is unusually good for a 'house wine'.

The 'couvert' includes several different types of local breads - goes nicely with entrees such as 'kajmak' (type of local cheese/cream) and venison preceded by an aperitif such as 'rakija'. Good selection of wines. If you are a beer person perhaps go for draft beer such as "Staropramen". Nice covered outside 'garden' that can be used in almost any weather.

Skadarlija (3min walk)– old bohemian area, often compared with Montmartre, where many famous Belgrade artists, poets, actors, writers, painters lived and worked by the end of the 19th and beginning of 20th century. Perfect place to enjoy a stroll by many restaurants with ethnic food and to catch a sound of live music from 19th century called ‘starogradske pesme’ (means ‘old town’s songs’).

This was the center of the old Roman settlement Singidunum, from which Belgrade developed. Most of the houses on the street where many influential people of the 19th century had lived are from that time. There are a few art galleries exhibiting mostly local artist that you might want to drop in on your walk. See "Galleries".

The Kalemegdan park and fortress are situated at the top of the hill overlooking two main rivers – Danube and Sava. Kalemegdan fortress is a reminder of Belgrade’s past and has a special place in the hearts of Belgrade people. The building of the fortress started at the beginning of AC era but it continued to be built and extended until the 18th century by Romans, Byzantines, Ottoman Empire, Austrians… The beautiful park features old trees and many monuments to famous local writers, poets, politicians.
