Marcy & Myrtle cafe is a block away near the Myrtle-Willoughby stop, and brews deeelicious Ethiopian yirgacheffe drip coffee daily. Their croissants and pastries are also tasty—ask the barista to toast it for you.

Make sure to grab dinner at the New York Magazine-featured 750 Myrtle Diner across the street. It features a Japanese twist on classic American diner cuisine. Veeery yummy, but a little pricey.

Visit P&T for a taste of fried southern goodness. My favourite item is the catfish sandwich with a side of fries. Try a squirt of honey on top. P&T also has amazing pies and baked goods. Their cookies somehow achieve the impossible: gooey in the center, crisp on the edges.

Wanna catch the game? This sports bar is a great local spot with wing deals and a huge backyard. Their food is great for a bar, too. The rib sandwich is hearty and huuuge. Take the bus along Myrtle Ave from my apartment.

Great bodega with a cheap ATM—only a $1.75 fee if I remember correctly. Cheap sandwiches too.

Sightseeing

My alma mater art school, Pratt is one of the few universities in NYC with a campus spanning several avenues. Take a walk around the sculpture garden and check out the historic buildings and grounds. Open to the public, so stroll on in.
