This is an essential stop for anyone even remotely interested in movies. Weta Workshops are the humble creators of the special effects of amazing works such as Avatar, District 13, Narnia, Tintin, King Kong and of course Lord of the Rings to name just a few. Their Weta Cave is really interesting to see (free entry) and includes a video about Weta Workshop. I also highly reccomend the (paid) tour inside the workshop that talks about many different films the company has worked on and allows you to see and touch some really cool props (book in advance to avoid missing out on this popular attraction) wetaworkshop.com/visit-us/workshop-tours

A fantastic place for an outstanding coffee and brunch. Seashore Cabaret roasts its own coffee and makes amazing food. I can recommend pretty much everything on their menu but especially the pancakes with berries and mascarpone!

This is an awesome spot that even some locals don't know about. It's a grand memorial to a past NZ Prime Minister right on the peninsula with unexpected marble columns and stunning panoramic views. We had some wedding photos taken at this special spot. p.s. make sure you climb the dome to hear the cool acoustics!

This is an awesome spot that even some locals don't know about. It's a grand memorial to a past NZ Prime Minister right on the peninsula with unexpected marble columns and stunning panoramic views. We had some wedding photos taken at this special spot. p.s. make sure you climb the dome to hear the cool acoustics!
The botanical gardens are great to wander around with lots of interesting spots. Also fun to access from the historic Wellington Cable Car from Lambton Quay right in town that takes you up the steep hill. There are also great views over Wellington city and harbour from the top
