With over 250 vendors, Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market, is the oldest, continuously operating farmers’ market in North America. Open daily, the best time to go is on the weekends when all the vendors are out in full force. A truly great place to pick up local flavors and local gifts. Will not disappoint! Try to get there as early as possible on the weekends to avoid the crowds.

If I won the lottery, I would probably eat at Da Maurizio every day. Italian Fine Dining. What else can I say? The handmade lobster marcarpone herb ravioli... I am pretty sure that is what you get served in heaven. The food is almost to pretty to eat... as pretty as it is, it is even more delicious.

Definitely one of the better restaurants in the city... Award winning Chives is a must-go for all you serious foodies. With an emphasis on local, seasonal ingredients, you will not be disappointed. The building used to house a bank, and the new owner have converted the vault into a wine cellar. If you book ahead, inquired about reserving the vault for a unique dining experience.

If Dim Sum is your deal, this is the place to be. This small nondescript Cantonese Bakery is a family run business that offers up affordable deliciousness. The fried shrimp dumpling and the steam pork buns from the bakery will not disappoint. This is one of my go-to's in the city.

Located on the infamous Pizza Corner, no night on the town is complete without a stop to Willy's for their award winning poutine. For those of you that come from away and do not know what a poutine is, prepared to have your mind blown ( and your arteries clogged). Considered a national dish here in the great north. A basic poutine consist of home cuts fries , cheese curds and gravy. Willy takes it to the next level by adding additional toppings. My go- to is always the poutine with house-made stuffing. When I am feeling a little crazy, I add pulled pork.

This little gem of a diner serves up delicious Jewish comfort food that is good for the soul. Don't be turned off by the drab interior (which is my opinion actually heightens the charm of the restaurant). This place is always packed with a devoted following of customers. They slay in the all day breakfast department. The food is always fresh and tasty, and you really can't beat the price.

The food is yummy, reasonably priced, offering an array of vegan and gluten free options. What I LOVE LOVE LOVE about this restaurant, is the view. This is my latest obsession...I ended up here one night, when the restaurant I had planned on going to was closed unexpectedly. What a find! This hole in the wall restaurant in my opinion is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in town, possibly in Atlantic Canada. You are not going here for the ambiance... the inside of the restaurant basically smells like a wet mop. The staff inside speak very little English... (which in my opinion kind of adds to the charm of the place) But the food is out of this world good! My favorite dish hands down is the Ma Po Tofu. Even the hardcore carnivore that I was dining with that night loved it.

Literally a few minutes walk from the condo, the Emera Oval is a permanent skating rink/speed skating rink on the Halifax Commons, which is FREE to the public. Good way to get your exercise, as it is the size of three NHL hockey rinks! You can borrow helmets, hockey skates, figure skates, speed skates, sledges and snowshoes in the winter. In the summer you can borrow inline & roller skates, bikes, scooters, plasma cars, helmets and protective gear. NOTE: A valid Government issued photo ID is required to borrow all equipment.
