Probably our favorite food spot in the area. Awesome Venezuelan beach food and drinks, and also not very expensive. The service can be spotty, but the food keeps us coming back.

If you like ramen, you'll love this place. It ranks right up there with some of the best ramen places we've tried in NYC and DC. I highly recommend the veggie ramen, and getting mushrooms instead of the tofu (if you're not a big tofu fan like me). Mecha is also in the happening and funky area of South Norwalk (Sono). Definitely worth checking out.

The best pizza is in Italy. NYC also has really good pizza. Some claim that Chicago deep-dish is good (not me). That said, Frank Pepe's is the quintessential New Haven style pizza. Thin crust and to the point. Get the clams and bacon!!!

Great local spot for barbecue, and it's only about 10 minutes from our house. The pulled pork sandwich is great, and so is their homemade smoked sausage.

A local favorite, Orem's Diner has been in business since 1921. It's simple food at decent prices, as most diners are. Best for breakfast or lunch.

Great Japanese fusion restaurant with some unique and tasty dishes. Highly recommend the trout massaman. They don’t take reservations, but it’s worth the wait (usually 30-45 minutes). You can go to Viva Zapata across the street for a delicious margarita while you wait.

Local and laid back. This dive bar in Westport is a local favorite. It's built as a docked galley ship. Super unique, and the burgers are actually pretty damn good.

Really good beer and cool brewery in an old factory. Order food from the food truck outside (they encourage it). Careful though, most of the beers are pretty high ABV.

The only national park in Connecticut is right here in our small town. From the website (https://www.nps.gov/wefa/index.htm): Designed and preserved by artists, Weir Farm National Historic Site welcomes everyone to experience the power of creativity, art, and nature. Escape to the only national park dedicated to American painting and rediscover the beauty of light and color in everyday life.

We regularly walk to Bisceglie Park from our house and walk the loop around the nature/fitness trail there. It's a pretty spot, and an easy 1 to 1.5 hour roundtrip walk/hike when you don't have a lot of time.

Gorgeous little beach hideaway in Bridgeport. Excellent sandy beaches and park area. Parking is expensive, especially for non-residents (like $60 for the day!) However, if you don't mind walking a bit or biking, you can park for free on the street nearby and then go into the park/beach on foot or by bike. The added time of walking or biking in is probably 10-30 minutes depending on where you park and whether you walk or bike.

Wonderful place! From their website: HEALING, HIKING & HAPPINESS Sticks and Stones Farm is a 60-acre family managed natural space. Known by its landmark Stone Barn and homegrown cabins, the farm opens its doors to the Newtown community, Fairfield County, Brooklynites and beyond. We have beautiful hiking trails open to the public from May 1st to October 31st. We ask that all visitors sign our liability form at the Stone Barn and leave a donation for trail maintenance. All dogs must remain on a leash. We pride ourselves on being a unique and grassroots farm available to anyone interested in enriching their minds, bodies, and spirit. We choose love.

Whether you're experienced in meditation or not, this is a great place to clear your mind and find some inner peace. The Thai monks who live and teach there are very engaging and welcoming. Their meditation style is also much less rigid than others (e.g. you can stand, sit how you'd like, keep your eyes open). It's an absolutely beautiful spot, which you'll leave feeling refreshed and positive. It's free to go, but you are encouraged to leave a small donation. Totally your choice, you won't be pressured at all by the monks or staff. Check out their website for schedule of events and meditations: http://reddingmeditation.org/

This local chain grocery store is very unique, and worth a visit if you have never been. Complete with a petting zoo, singing mechanical animals and characters, and aisles set up like a corn maze; it's sort of Tarantino meets National Lampoon's. Beyond the interesting experience, the food and prices are both really good. We do most of our regular grocery shopping here.
