Slighly pricy and aimed at the Rich and trendy. The road down is a bit tortuous and we wouldn't advise taking your car in summer although there is a small car park. You can walk down through Walls Hill or down the road, but take care, it's very steep and very narrow in places. However, it's probably well worth the effort. We only go in winter when it's quiet. You can also walk along to Oddicombe beach from here and tale the cliff railway back up the steep cliff route.

10 minutes on foot from Rosa and close to the harbour - we walk down and get a taxi back up. Good Chinese food, better than most in fact. Very helpful and friendly staff and you sense that the food is fresh and home cooked.

Possibly the best burgers ever. Quite trendy and you need to book. Friendly staff here and vegetarians are catered for in spite of the horrible name and ghastly green cow over the front door. We really like eating here.

Local supermarket (ordinary stuff but a bit alternative too), easy on street parking and lots of different foods. Good prices and we like it a lot. More like an individual shop. Great veg shop (Jacks is opposite) and D and H Fishmongers just down the road.

The big Torquay beach. Watch out for the tide as the beach disappears when it's high tide. The promenade along here is almost like being in the Med. Lots of cafes, cocktails and restaurants all with good views. It's a lively cafe area.

A small and eclectic museum but well worth a visit on a dull day. Of particular importance is the Agatha Christie exhibit. Remember Agatha was a daughter of Torquay only leaving here after she married her first husband Archibald Christie. We often go and can highly recommend it. Nice little cafe there too.

A good visit here will take a day, museum, abbey and art. Lots of background to Torbay and the Napoleonic Wars and Napoleon's short stay here on prison ship. Lovely gardens and glasshouse. Highly recommended for adults.

A National Trust Property with beautiful gardens leading to the sea. Originally built by a pupil of Edwin Lutyens for the D'Oyly Carte family of Gilbert and Sullivan fame. This was their holiday home and weekend retreat. Not a big house but really worth a visit - you need a car.

We all love Daddyhole, a lovely walk from the Harbour/Imperial Hotel along the coast or by road. Great place for a picnic, stroll or a walk down to Meadfoot. Limited parking on the Plain but more on the streets nearby. National Coastwatch have a watchtower and visit centre here which you can visit - small donations always appreciated because the Coastwatch is a charity not funded by Government and Don Hands is one of the Watchkeepers. You might find him in the tower in his uniform.

Might be my favourite town. Access by boat trip from Torquay Harbour or 30 minutes by car and ferry. Small but packed and lovely riverside walks, castle, super little Craft shops including that of famous artist and cartoonist Simon Drew. Lots of good places to lunch out or sit by the riverside with a picnic. Britannia Royal Naval College is here.

You have to book ahead and you need to go to Teignmouth (7 miles - lovely drive) to catch the boat. They run 1 and 2 hours trips mostly. Photos on their Facebook page are fantastic.

Charming, quaint little seaside town just 6-7 miles drive along the coast from Torquay. Large car park at the top of the village and walk down. Also has a beach at The Ness - you walk through a tunnel through the cliffs to get there. A few good pubs and restaurants there. We like the Clipper.
