Sightseeing

Brisbane City Council has a wonderful display of the history of Brisbane in the City Hall, located in King George Square, with lots of old photographs and interesting historical facts. There's an opportunity to travel up into the clock tower for a view over the city. On the ground level is a wonderful old cafe, the iconic Shingle Inn, that's been serving sweet treats since 1936. The original site in the city was redeveloped some years ago and the original fitout, with dark timber paneling and old fashioned booths, was moved to this present site.

Food Scene

Sing's is well known by locals for delicious fresh Asian cuisine, made very quickly and at very reasonable prices. It can get extremely busy but if you haven't booked you won't wait long as turnover is quick. Most local families dine early so the rush is usually over by around 8pm. There's a constant stream of locals picking up take-aways. It's BYO, so you can pick up a bottle of wine or beer from the Bottle Shop across the road.

There are 2 parts to this venue, on the left is the restaurant and on the right the coffee shop. They open early for breakfast and well known for accommodating the local bicycle riders, through lunch and late evening. It's a good place for supper after the theatre.
