Sunscreen and bug spray is quiet expensive in Costa Rica. If you have a little extra room in your checked bag it’s not a bad idea to throw some in. The house is elevated and rarely has mosquitos so if you only have room for 1, go with the sunscreen.

If you’re planning to surf, pack mineral sunscreen (zinc) over any physical sunscreen as it ocean friendly, won’t burn your eyes and lasts much longer. We recommend a stick that is thick. A long sleeve rash guard is also a must. Try to avoid black or you’ll be too hot, especially during dry season January - April.

Hermosa has no cell phone service. If you are lucky, you may get 1 bar of service from the villa. Before you go ensure your wifi calling is turned on so you can get texts and calls when you are on wifi. Download Whatsapp as its used by most business for communication.
