Favorite brunch places

30 seconds from my apartment, is Vespa & Humla. This place is known for its cozy and cool vibe, great drinks (you have to taste their local beer) and brunch ala Copenhagen. This place really gives you "the feeling of Grünerløkka".

A 3 minute walk from the apartment, is Cultivate Food. This is a relatively new vegan restaurant with great prices and a good atmosphere for working, taking a coffee or eating a lunch/dinner. They also have take away. The meal of the day gets posted on Instagram and is only 79 NOK. I really recommend this place for both vegans and non vegans!

Go-to places for wine & beer

Perla is a hidden gem! 3 minutes from the apartment, you will find this tiny bar with a lot of drinks to offer along with an intimate and chill vibe. It can get a bit crowded at the later hours, but not loud.

A 5 minute walk from my apartment, is neighboorhood bar called Dæl, ranked the second best cocktail bar in Norway. This is a cool place where you can sit for hours. Highly recommend for a drink with a friend or a date!

Neighborhoods

Please please please visit Kampen if you have the time. Perfect for an afternoon walk or in the weekend. Here you will find cozy apartments in all colours, a fun place for kids to play, a beautiful church, a well-known flower shop, as well as café and restaurants. This is my go-to walk all seasons, which is about 25 minutes from the apartment. Along the way you will go through Tøyen park or you can take the route through Botanisk Hage (Oslos botanical garden, free entrance).

10-15 minutes from the apartment, is Torshov. A beautiful family-friendly neighbourhood with several parks, a lot of playgrounds for kids and picnic spots. Search for "Torshovdalen" and/or "Torshovparken" in maps and you will find them easily. They are close by, so I recommend combining the two. Both are also great places for a jog!

Places you need to go

If there is one museum you should visit when in Oslo, this is the one. Munch (re)opened in 2021 and is spectacular. The art is of course very beautiful, but so is the view from inside the museum. You get both the city view and the ocean view in one.

One of the most beautiful place to see Oslo from. Grefsenkollen is a good hike (with a 1 km hill at the end) from my apartment (approx. 1,5 hour) or by taking the 11 tram to Doktor Smiths vei and walk 40 minutes from there. There is also busses from the city centre that takes you all the way to the top. At Grefsenkollen restaurant you can eat one of the best pizzas in Oslo, salads, ice cream or waffles to mention some. There is also alcohol servings.

Great places for dinner

Ludo has (in my opinion) the best pizzas in Oslo. The place it self is great for any type of dinner, the atmosphere is unbeatable. In the summer, you can eat outside (would recommend) as well as inside the restaurant. Also good for take away (with Wolt). The staff is also great. Located at Majorstuen (take tram number 11 or 18 for the fastest travel, 12 is also possible but a bit longer) or walk for about 40 minutes.

About 4-5 minute walk from the apartment, you will find Apostrophe. You can sit both inside and outside, I would recommend outside in the summer. Their reindeer pizza is famous in Oslo, and with good reason. Drinks are also great!

Consejos para la ciudad

Cómo moverse

The tram is the easiest way to get to the city centre

Take tram 11, 12 or 18 from Olaf Ryes plass and you will be in the city centre in about 10 minutes. Use the app "Ruter" for tickets, about 40 NOK for an adult.

There are a lot of free activities for children

Norway can be expensive, but there is a lot of free activities for children. Especially entrance on museums and experiences. Take a quick google search on free activities in Oslo - and you will find a lot:-)
