Food scene

There are a couple of great options within walking distance of our house - The Pub, Ocean Mist, and Surfside Pizza. It's also fun to walk to the Vanilla Bean for ice cream! Try the Graham Central Station flavor, a family favorite!
This is our favorite restaurant in the area! Everything on the menu is delicious! The oysters are farmed right in Potters Pond behind the restaurant. Don't miss the lobster pizza!

Fun Day Trips

A fun day trip! Catch the ferry in Galilee and rent bikes or mopeds when you get there to explore. Some highlights are Mohegan Bluffs, the free Animal Farm, Spring House Hotel, the Oar for lunch, beaches (Mansion Beach, Town Beach, Ballards Beach), the Great Salt Pond, shopping in town and the Maritime Institute! While you’re on BI, be on the look out for Glass Floats. Each year, glass artists from Wakefield create 550 glass floats (orbs) to hide on Block Island for the public to find. They are hidden on beaches, trails, trees, etc. You can keep it if you find one, but they ask that you register it on their website so they can keep track of them!

Sightseeing

The Breakers, Marble House, The Elms, and Rosecliff. Interesting look into the Gilded Age and how the very rich families spent their summers. Self guided tour. They’re all amazing, but if I had to pick one, it would probably be the the Breakers. It’s the grandest of Newport's summer "cottages" and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family's social and financial pre-eminence in the Gilded Age. Rosecliff is where the HBO Series The Gilded Age was filmed, as well as parts of the movie The Great Gatsby.

3.5 mile (one way) path along the coast line, with views for many of the back lawns of the mansions. You don’t have to do all of it (you can turn around at any point) but it’s a beautiful walk with gorgeous views
