While heading south out of Anchorage your drive will take you along Turnagain Arm. The drive affords the opportunity to see wildlife climbing the rocky landscape, whales swimming in the water, extreme tides which can result in bore tides, glaciers and stunning waterfalls.
Please be advised, the mud in Turnagain Arm is called “killer mud” and is very dangerous.
