The Bakersfield Sound

Bakersfield is a country music town, and some people call it Nashville west. Buck Owens and Merle Haggard are both from Bakersfield and helped create a style of country music referred to as “The Bakersfield Sound.” You can tour Merle Haggard’s childhood home which was a boxcar his father converted into a house. It’s located in Pioneer Village at the Kern County Museum. Also, don’t miss dinner, country music and dancing at Buck Owens Crystal Palace Steak House.
