Woo Hoo, Gotta love this place! sure it's a little run down, sure it's a little outta the way, but it was someone's magnificent dream! To provide cold beverages and food to hot and hungry desert dwellers at reasonable prices, that's what makes it such a kickass dive bar...well that and the cool Bartender, unusual locals and post apocalyptic vibe.

Amboy Crater is an extinct North American cinder cone type of volcano that rises above a 70-square-kilometer (27 sq mi) lava field in southern California. You can hike right into the cone, but save this one for a cooler morning/afternoon as the hike there and back from the lot is about 2hours round trip. If you get to check it out though its worth it to experience this geological wonder!

Purifoy (1917–2004) was an African American visual artist and sculptor, co-founder of the Watts Towers Art Center, and creator of the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum.[1] He lived and worked most of his life in Los Angeles and Joshua Tree, California. He is best known for his assemblage sculpture, including a body of work made from charred debris and wreckage collected after the Watts Riots of August 1965.[2] "I do not wish to be an artist. I only wish that art enables me to be." - Noah Purifoy, 1963 [3]
