Best things to do in County Wexford

“Hook head and the historic hook lighthouse are a nice drive out the Duncannon line from Wexford town. Great day trip for families or first time visitors. You can stop off at Templar’s Inn for lunch and Loftus Hall nearby has a haunted house tour and beautiful garden to visit. ”

History Museum
“The place to go if you are short on time and want to learn 3000 years of Irish history with hands-on, feel and do exhibits that you can experience in full-size. Good restaurant and gift shop. It's outdoors so there's lots of walking and it will take a few hours. Great for wearing out the kids!”

Opera House
“Visit the Opera House not only for its Opera Festival during the month of October, but for entertainment all year round. Even a visit to our friend, Tricia's Starview Cafe on the third floor to take in the view and her fabulous food is an absolute must. Reasonably priced and excellently prepared by her own hand right after you've ordered. (Her cakes, baked on the day and not before, are sheer delight!) Tell her Maggs and Karl said Hi.”

“The only garden in the country which is FREE. It was donated to the Office of Public Works by Corona North who planted it and designed it on her own. Her husband had to use a hunting horn to call her in from the garden!”

“This is a beautiful Elizabethan House that is still being restored. The grounds are peaceful and pretty with a fairy and Gruffalo wood walks. There is a play area, nice cafe, artisan workshops and for a small extra cost family archery with tuition. A lovely place to take children and adults of any age and it only costs the car park fee to get in.”

“Loftus Hall is a large country manor house on the Hook Peninsula. Built on the site of the original Redmond Hall, it is said by locals to have been haunted by the devil and the ghost of a young girl. They offer fantastic guided tours, a cafe and gift shop. This is Katie’s top recommendation for somewhere to visit! (45 minutes by car)”
