“The focal feature at Peninsula Park is The Rose Garden, a gorgeous display of Portland's official flower, which is meticulously maintained by Portland's Master Gardners and is frequently the site of professional photographer sittings and arts events. The entire park is a equally pleasant with large trees, wide curving walks, large open spaces, and a classic 1930's swimming pool cabana.”

“Hidden in South Seattle, Kubota Garden is a stunning 20 acre landscape that blends Japanese garden concepts with native Northwest plants. The city acquired the property, which is a historic landmark, in 1987 from the estate of master landscaper Fujitaro Kubota. Kubota was a horticultural pioneer when he began merging Japanese design techniques with North American materials in his display garden in 1927. The Gardens are a spectacular setting of hills and valleys, interlaced with streams, waterfalls, ponds, bridges, and rock out-croppings with a rich array of plant material.”

“Yes, you don’t have to travel to England to see Stonehenge. Check it out in nearby Maryhill, where there’s a full-scale replica built by the founder of the Maryhill Museum of Art. It’s actually a WWI memorial and was dedicated in 1918 to the men of the county who died, but the artist who built it was trying to portray a parallel between the Great War and the human sacrifices that he believed occurred at the original Stonehenge. Now, the creator’s ashes are placed in a crypt below the Memorial. Overall, it’s a very interesting and noteworthy spot to visit in the area.”
