Best things to do in Vientiane Province

Buddhist Temple
“A good way to go out of the city. This a parc with many statues. I wouldn't say it's a must go, but it's nice for a change. You can go by bus from the bus station Khua Din. Or by taxi”

Establishment
“Patuxai is a famous architectural structure of art and sculpture, which is considered as the symbol of Vientiane capital. This was built between 1957 and 1968 using funds from the U.S. government. The name comes from the Sanskrit words for door or gate (patu) and victory (jaya). The seven floors of the monument contain administrative offices as well as a gift shop, a museum and the upper viewing galleries. ”

“Vientiane's night market lights up the riverfront with a selection of stalls hawking handicrafts and T-shirts. It's not quite the atmosphere of Luang Prabang's, but nonetheless a good place to browse and hone your haggling skills.”

“The best salads of Vientiane and the best "lunch of the day" offer, no wonder why this is one of the few places in Vientiane always busy! Every lunch from Monday to Friday you have a different meal, 24 000kip (3$) for the soup + main. They have a full menu too and are doing for example huge and tasty salads for a correct price, the number one by far in our opinion is the Mexican salad (42 000kip). We tried almost every salad they have but we always go back to this one. The duck terrine is great (43 000kip), the wine (27 000kip the glass or 72 000kip the 50cl) and homemade desserts are good too. The atmosphere is nice and peaceful, you can eat outside or inside (downstairs or upstairs)”

“The best indian restaurant of Laos, just outside of a big road so it is very peaceful and in the center at the same time. It's a small restaurant and nothing fancy if you are on a date but food is awesome. It's a family business, highly recommended”

“There are many fruit shakes shops in Vientiane but very few actually knows how to make a shake properly in a healthy and tasty way. The owner Nui is doing everything by herself, she doesn't use sugar for your smoothie/juice because she goes every morning to the market to pick up ripe and sweet fruits. She's doing it for more than 15 years now and you can feel the passion in what she do. Her shop is near the That Dam and has nothing special by itself, no music, no wifi and it's along a road but the quality of the juice and the way she present it with a beautiful glass and a bamboo straw, we just love it. The prices are great too, starting at 8000kip/1$ a smoothie”

“High class food, full most of the time. Prices are higher than most restaurants in Vientiane but wow it's tasting good. It's a family business with lot of passion, you can ask any question and they will tell what you need. This is a french restaurant ”

Night Club
“Best night club in Vientiane but a bit far from central town, loud music and almost full every night. This is more high class than the other night club @Home near central Vientiane. I recommend you to go there with someone as there is no dancefloor, Asian like to stand around a high table and drinks but they don't dance so much. If you are alone @Home will be better for you as you easily find everyday people and more tourist too. It's a more friendly place if you compare it with The Marina.”

Premise
“Vientiane's Arc de Triomphe replica is a slightly incongruous sight, dominating the commercial district around Th Lan Xang. Officially called 'Victory Monument' and commemorating the Lao who died in prerevolutionary wars, it was built in 1969 with cement donated by the USA intended for the construction of a new airport. Climb to the summit for panoramic views over Vientiane.”
