“An amusement park for many, place of nostalgic dreams for some, oasis of greenery for almost everyone – and the location of the Giant Ferris Wheel, one of Vienna’s most famous symbols. The Vienna Prater is in season from March to October. But the world-famous Giant Ferris Wheel and a few other attractions are open all year round.”

“Great wide-open park; good for jogging, playing ball, all sports or just lazying the day away. Lots of beer gardens, etc.”

Island
“The Donauinsel is a small island in the Danube river, which resulted when the river was regulated in the last century. Great place to swim in summer due to many beach bars and green areas. A paradise for cyclists, joggers, inline skaters as well as locals who just want to hang out and slow down from the hectic city life. Tourists can rent a bike and take a tour on the island, which is great fun with family and friends. As the island is very flat it is very comfortable to ride a bike there. A great event happens every year in the summer holidays. Then the Donauinsel turns into the biggest free-of-charge open air festival of Europe. A must-see in Vienna.”

Parque
“Close to Hofburg and Heldenplatz it is one of the most beautiful parks in Vienna. You will find more than 200 different roses and when they are blooming the smell is incredibly nice. It's also nice for a short morning run as it is close to the appartement.”

“Beautiful, not so big park in the heart of the nobel Döbling with its villas and quiet life of expensive suburbs. Very easy to get there with bus 10A . There is a small restaurant there too. Locals love it, it is very authentic. Is on the way to the Grinzing, Kahlenberg, but closer. ”

“The Stadtpark (City Park) in Vienna, Austria is a large municipal park that extends from the Ringstraße in the Innere Stadt first district up to the Heumarkt (Hay Market) in the Landstraße third district. The park is divided in two sections by the Wienfluss (Vienna River), and has a total surface area of 65,000 square metres (28 acres). Scattered throughout the park are statues of famous Viennese artists, writers, and composers, including Hans Canon, Emil Jakob Schindler, Johann Strauss II, Franz Schubert, and Anton Bruckner. The opulent Kursalon building on Johannesgasse, with its broad terrace that reaches into the park, is the site of popular waltz concerts.”

“Like the coolest club in town for me. Still for me. Most people blame the new owner for the bar losing its hipster style and yadi yada. If you wanna party three days straight or just after hour until 3 pm. this is the place to be.”

“In the oak-filled woodland of Lainzer Tiergarten, you’ll find snuffling wild boars, giant-horned goats, mischievous squirrels and serene deer freely roaming the grassy meadows and mossy forest floors. The gardens’ walking trails and wide open heaths are framed with fragrant cherry trees and the humming drill of woodpeckers in the warmer months. Come winter, cross-country skiing and near-silent restorative treks across snow-encrusted trails are possible. Hidden within the former hunting ground is Princess Sisi’s Hermesvilla, a marble mini-palace famously gifted to her by Franz Joseph I in 1881. Stop in for a queenly coffee and cake on the terrace.”

“Heldenplatz is a famous square just across the Austrian National Library. It's a walking distance to the Museum of Natural History and the National Art museum, the city hall and Burgtheater (the most important theater in Austria).”

Mirador
“This 99-hectare (245-acre) park, in the 22nd District between the Danube Canal and the Alte Donau (Old Danube), was converted in 1964 from a garbage dump to a park with flowers, shrubs, and walks, as well as a bird sanctuary. You'll find a bee house, an aviary with native and exotic birds, a small-animal paddock, a horse-riding course, playgrounds, and games. An outstanding feature of the park is the Donauturm (Danube Tower), a 253m (830-ft.) tower with two rotating cafe-restaurants from which you have a panoramic view of Vienna.”

“Topped by Otto Wagner’s glimmering art-nouveau church, Steinhofgründe is the most underrated of Vienna’s city parks. Sauntering along its pebbled paths, past wild raspberry and blackberry bushes, you’re just as likely to come across kite-flying adults as you are children clambering over huge forest playgrounds built entirely from natural materials. Old oaks and ageing apple trees create calming arbours, complete with wooden picnic tables. For the best views over the city, seek out the hand-carved sun loungers and allow the countryside to work its unwinding magic.”
