What comes to mind when you think of Hong Kong? Skyscrapers, an urban metropolis and densely packed people? While that is true, 40% of Hong Kong is made up of parks and nature reserves. Our house is located in the beautiful hamlet of Hoi Ha Village within the Sai Kung country park. Out here verdant green mountains, calm clear water, beautiful beaches and a diverse array of animals and foliage surround us. A visit to Hoi Ha is to experience another side of Hong Kong. Come see for yourself.
Our house is the perfect venue for a family staycation, a gathering with a close group of friends or an intimate retreat. Between the house and surrounding area there are many distractions to be found and places one can escape to, either for fun or solitude. The beaches are clean, the water is clear and the evenings are blissfully quiet. There are also a number of fantastic hikes and larger beaches to explore within the country park (although this is best done with a guide). This is the ideal place to re-connect with nature.
Hoi Ha village is a quaint village set within a country park. Hoi Ha Wan is a government protected marine reserve with over 60 species of coral and 120 varieties of fish. There are 3 small beaches that support a number of activities including snorkeling, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and exploring marine life (please don't remove anything). There is a WWF education centre with talks that can be scheduled by appointment. There is one simple restaurant in the village. When the day-trippers leave Hoi Ha becomes very peaceful and quiet. All you hear is the sound of birds, cicada's and frogs (which is lovely). There is relatively little light pollution (for Hong Kong) so one can appreciate the stars.
