Hindu Temple
“Gunung Kawi in Tampaksiring Village - 11th Century candi (pronounced chandi, meaning tombs) of a Royal Balinese Family. Archeologists believe the candies commemorate the King, Anak Wungsu, and his Queens. There are three sets of tombs: Royal Tombs (King and 4 favourite wives), Queens Tombs and the 10th Tomb. All of the candi are carved from the riverside cliff face and have beautiful reliefs of temple facades. The candi don’t have any bones or ashes, but seem to have been erected to complete the religious rites of honouring the spirits of the deceased. (30 minutes north/east of Ubud)”

Temple
“A beautiful temple from the 11th-century which is a funerary complex for Balinese royalty located in Tampak Siring and surrounded by amazing landscape. Just remind that there are hundreds of steps to access the temple area so it may not be suitable for elderly people.”
