“Te Waikoropupū Springs are the largest freshwater springs in New Zealand, the largest cold water springs in the Southern Hemisphere and contain some of the clearest water ever measured. On a sunny day, the springs show off their clarity and gorgeous turquoise colour. The short walk to the springs from the car park takes about 20 minutes, though you could spend longer if you were so inclined. As tempting as the water looks, contact with the water is forbidden in any form. Enjoy their beauty, but please do not contaminate it!”

Absolutely worth the wait, which can be quite a while in the middle of the high season, but can be filled in with a stroll along the beach at Marahau.”
