“SILVERMINE DAM actually: Silvermine is a park that spans the Kalk bay mountains over to Elephant's eye overlooking Hout bay. There are many reasons to be in this park - caving, beautiful walks in the morning/evening, views, rock climbing, mountain biking. But possibly the best-kept secret is the Silvermine dam. Just off Ou Kaapse weg (Old Cape Road) at the top of the plateau turn right (if you're heading South), and pay entrance fee at the gate. Proceed up the hill to a parking area. Take a costume and towel and if you've got a dog, them too. Swimming in the dam is fantastic mostly because, in summer, it's in the mid to high 20's in the water and the bottom of the dam is not mud, but "beach" sand. Don't be put off by the dark water - really don't.”

“It may be the easiest route to hike up Table Mountain - but don't be deceived, you'll need to be relatively fit.”

“Platteklip is a challenging hiking trail that will take you right onto Table Mountain. The oldest, easiest and most direct route to the summit and therefore also the most popular, so expect company along the way. Pack a few snacks and enjoy a picnic once you reach the summit. You will not be disappointed by the views. ”

“A steep climb, an hour up for the fit and 2 or more for those less so, this is a wonderful trek up to the Table Top. The path is all stepped and busy at peak times. A rewarding way to reach the top of Table Mountain and look over the splendour of Cape Town. At the top, there is a restaurant and bar. If you are tired, take the cable car down.”
