“Although the Norton is home to an amazing, eclectic art collection, the gardens are equally astounding. Waterfalls, azaleas and huge pine trees make this little known spot seem like a secret garden. Free.”

“Marilynn's Place is a hip spot that locals love to frequent for Sunday brunch. The chef whips up a new menu each week full of non-traditional southern flavor combinations that are guaranteed to please. Lesser known, they also serve dinner each night as well.”

“Iconic breakfast (available all day) spot, also serves plate lunches & dinners . People rave about their pies as well but honestly i think they are way over rated! whip cream is not what I want my pie topped with; I'm a meringue man! ”

Parque
“Located in our other historic neighborhood, South Highlands, this is the queen of all our city parks. And she is beautiful. About 5 minutes away by car, plenty of excellent play equipment for the kids. Trail and pathways are great and local clubs have added to the beauty with native species plantings. Pay attention to the ancient cypress trees, appear to almost be gentle giants standing watch over. Different festivals through out the year, but on any day, you will find families enjoying this park, cooking on the provided grills and taking advantage of the best park in the city. Dogs welcomed but must be leashed and you MUST pick up after your dogs.”
