“Killalea Reserve is a spectacular tract of coastal land that has been dedicated as a public recreation reserve available for surfing, fishing, picnics, bushwalking and camping. Killalea has two favourite surf beaches, Killalea Beach or 'The Farm' as known by the locals and Minnamurra Beach as 'Mystics'. The word Minnamurra means many fish in the local Aboriginal language. In 2009 Killalea Reserve was named a National Surfing Reserve with the vision of saving this unique surf break for future generations. The Farm is quite unique as it faces south east and and has a point break that has fairly consistent surf. Surfing lessons are available from here. Contact the Shellharbour Visitors Centre for information. Find out the interesting history of Killaea with a virtual tour. Download the "Tread Shellharbour" App and follow the guided tour. “Bushrangers Bay Nature preserve, snorkeling, diving, The clear waters, nature walks and outstanding snorkel/dive sites at Bass Point Reserve is what makes this place really stunning. For all the adventure lovers out there take note: The dive sites include shipwrecks, undersea cliffs and many beautiful as well as colourful sea creatures. This is one of the best diving and snorkelling spots in NSW's South Coast and one of the safer spots to go shark diving, apart from the grey nurse shark dive in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. About Bass Point/Bushrangers Bay: Heritage-listed reserve. Marine sanctuary - no fishing, collecting or touching of animals and coral allowed. Great for diving and snorkelling - dive sights include shipwrecks and cliffs. Diverse range of sea creatures. Self-guided Indigenous Cultural Walk at Bass Point with plaques providing detailed information about the place. Habitat for endangered grey nurse sharks, fearsome-looking but harmless to humans. What's at Bushrangers Bay? No drinking water. No toilets (toilets can be found at the self-guided Indigenous Cultural Walk that you pass when driving to Bushrangers Bay). Steps to get to beach. Not suitable for wheelchairs. Everything needs to be carried from car park down the steps to Bushrangers Bay. Shops (Woolworths) are at the corner of Cove and Harbour Blvd ”

“A short swim across the river. Mystics Beach is an idealic locals-beach. It is un-patrolled but un-spoilt and offers a tranquil escape if the river is crowded.”

“Locally known by the older crowd and the surfing community as "The Farm". Back in the day, the only access to this beach was via a private farm. Sometimes the farmer was around to collect the 40 cents fee, but more often than not, it was left in the honesty box hanging on the gate. These days access is free and easy. ”
