“A fascinating site, with much history. Be sure to rent the audio as the sound track & inmate interviews make this place come alive. Its a nice ferry ride to the island, offering great views of the City. During peak summer months, recommend securing tickets well in advance at they sell out week(s) in advance. ”

“This old-school movie palace has been a fixture in the Castro neighborhood since 1922. The grand interior and signature pre-show organ music are worth the price of admission alone — but stick around for their ever-changing roster of classic films, spirited sing-alongs, and rotating film festivals. Absolutely one of our favorite destinations in SF!”

“Charming restored original ferry terminal, now housing unusual shops, food markets and restaurants ( famous Slanted Door is here and my fav, Hog Island Oyster.) Nice views of the Bay. Suggest you take the restored street car (MUNI) line from the Castro down Market Street to the Ferry Bldg, that will give you a better sense of SF along the ride. ”

“What on earth is this fancy Merry-Go-Round doing in a park in the Berkeley Hills? Well, they had to put it somewhere. There are also snacks and coffee inside, but don't expect the cafe quality you would find in town.”

“I love this place and not enough people go there, which is likely a good thing. Many other great things to do as is near Crissy field and GG bridge, etc. A small drive from my place but worth it!”

“It's FREE! It's an amazing National Park Service museum that winds its way through wartime America up to the Richmond Harbor, the site of largest ship building complex in the world during WWII, owned by Henry J Kaiser. The museum chronicles the migration of a large population, especially from the south, in hopes of finding jobs during wartime. What you may be surprised to know is that woman power was in large part behind the construction of these ships. Visit: https://www.nps.gov/rori/index.htm”
