“Piazza del Popolo is a large urban square in Rome. The name in modern Italian literally means "People's Square", but historically it derives from the poplars (populus in Latin, pioppo in Italian) after which the church of Santa Maria del Popolo, in the northeast corner of the piazza, takes its name.”

“No need to tell you why, just seat and look at Piazza del Popolo. One place very relaxing where you can imagine the Dolce Vita of Rome. I love a Martini cocktail but if I have no to drive and surely you don't have this need, the apt is just behind the corner”

“The layout of the piazza today was designed in neoclassical style between 1811 and 1822 by the architect Giuseppe Valadier. At the center of this gorgeous square you find an ancient Egyptian obelisk. At the southern end of the square are two symmetrical churches on either side of the Via del Corso. There is yet another church at the Piazza del Popolo, the Santa Maria del Popolo. It is located right near the Porta del Popolo and contains two famous paintings by Caravaggio. This church contains also works by several other famous artists, such as Raffaello, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Caravaggio, Pinturicchio and Donato Bramante.”
