“Possible for a day trip The quaint town of Pai in Maehongson province (about 146 km or 91 miles northwest of Chiang Mai) is surrounded by spectacular mountains and rivers. It is roughly a three to four hours drive from Chiang Mai on twisty(746 turns), wooded, and elevated mountain roads. The route is simultaneously dangerous and beautiful and offers endless breathtaking mountainside views of rural northern Thailand. Several worth visiting places including Pai Canyon, Tham Lod Cave, White Buddha on hill top (Way Phra That Mae Yen), Boon Ko Ku So Bridge, hot springs and waterfalls”

“Lovely views and some great hiking trails as long as you have good balance and head for heights. Popular spot to watch the sunset from although can become rather crowded. The 5 minute walk to the first viewpoint can be done by anyone with moderate fitness although the trails along the ridge are rather narrow with big drops on either side”

“This is a lovely trek which takes between 3-3.30 hours each way so 6-7 hours in total. After passing through the rice fields you move into the forest following and crossing the stream multiple time before ending up at Mae Yen Waterfall. A guide isn't strictly necessary for this hike but you should be fit with trekking experience and be prepared with food and water and set off early. You want footwear with grip that can get wet as you go in and out the stream many times. ”

“Also know as the secret hot spring, although not so secret any more, this beautiful spot is tucked away in the forest around 15kms from Pai. With crystal clear water the temperature of a warm bath and surrounded by huge trees this spot is well worth a visit. The road here is very steep in parts so not recommended for inexperienced riders or those on older low power scooters. ”

“Relax in the natural hot springs, they have a number of pools at different temperatures averaging around 36 degrees. Best enjoyed during the colder winter months between November and January especially in the mornings or late afternoon. As this is in the national park there is a 300B entrance fee. For those not wanting to spend so much i recommend visiting on of the nearby resorts like Pai Hotspring Spa Resort.”

“This is a restaurant on the main walking street. In our opinion it has the best Khao Soi northern curry in town! We recomment Khao Soi Beef. If Khao Soi isn't your thing we also recommend the Hanglay Curry, The Pineapple Fried Rice or the Lad Na Gravy Noodle! ”
