“The concentration of the Rideau Canal locks are best observed right off Wellington St between Parliament and The Chateau Laurier. The Rideau Canal turns into the Worlds Longest Skating rink during the Winter, into Winterlude. It runs from Downtown to Dow's Lake. Great views can also be had from Major Hill Park and Nepean Point”

“The Gatineau Park is a national park. It offers lakes for swimming, trails for walking, hiking, skiing, mountain biking. The Parkways within the park are turned over to cyclists on Sundays, just don't tell them it isn't theirs the rest of the time. Serious triathletes train here (swimming in Meech Lake), as do leasure cyclists wanting a hilly challenge. Runners train with a whistle to ward off the occasionnal bear and cub or insistant Canada geese. The old Carbide Mill ruinsat Meech Lake are as close as you can get to a nude beach in Ottawa...”
