“This is a fun old-fashioned drive-in! They serve mostly fried "baskets", my favorite is the fried haddock basket served with fries, cole slaw and a roll, delicious! They have lobster rolls, shrimp and scallop baskets, and they have ice cream, too! My aunt worked here when she was a teenager, in the 1950's, when the place was called Fat's!”

“If you're interested in local history or salmon breeding then stopping over at the Fish Hatchery makes for an interesting afternoon. Learn about the process of spawning and raising salmon in the museum, then walk down to the beautiful wooded picnic tables for a picnic lunch where kids can swim in the clean waters of Alamoosook Lake. ”

“Heart Pond is the pond you are looking at through the trees when you are at the cottage. It is only accessible for swimming through the public boat launch on the other side of the pond. To get there, when you come from the cottage, make a right onto route 1, and another right after about half a mile when you see Duffy's Restaurant. The road will lead you behind Duffy's and turns into a dirt road that leads to the boat launch. Very nice and private swimming spot! ”

“Main Street in Bucksport, Maine is the quintessential small New England Town. Walk less than a block to get to the waterfront, which includes a fabulous walking trail, or a little more for small community shops and restaurants. Learn more about the Town's History at the nearby Historical Society building including several historical sites.”
