“Parua Bay Tavern is nestled on the waterfront of the beautiful Whangarei Heads Harbour under the majestic Mt. Aubrey and Whangarei Headland. The venue is suited to all – the tavern has two large deck areas and an expansive lawn so it can cater for most group sizes. Lounge with us on a bean bag under the beautiful pohutukawa tree. ”

Museum
“The Stone Store is a very old building - built in 1832, the Georgian-style Stone Store was originally a Missionary Society warehouse but assumed various roles including a trading post, library, barracks and boys’ school. It also served as a general store, a tradition that continues today in the atmospheric ground-floor gift shop. The gift shop is lovely and the country gardens surrounding the Stone Store and Kemp house are definitely worth a look.”

“ A spectacular 27 metre curtain waterfall which is easily accessed from the falls carpark off Rainbow Falls Road. The easiest way to view the waterfall is from the upper lookout which roughly 1-minute's walk away from the carpark. A further short walk (approximately 1 minute) leads to a further lookout from the head of the waterfall. There is also a five minute walk to the falls base below. The track is generally suitable for people of all abilities. If you have a reasonable level of fitness, you should consider the 3 hour return walk along the KeriKeri River Track to the historic Stone Store, Kemp House and Wharepoke Falls.”

“Waitangi is the birthplace of European settlement in New Zealand. Here you will see historic buildings and have the opportunity to take a tour that will help explain some of the cultural background of New Zealand. There is an excellent museum, art gallery and cafe in addition to the historic and cultural offerings here.”
